Crane Operations Safety

A HSE colleague of mine recently posted a video showing a crane related incident and it reminded me of so many similar environments I have worked in where Crane operations have been vital but not always undertaken safely either due to 1 or a number of omissions. To many that are not directly associated with the task in hand it may appear that the space (controlled area) required to manage what appears to be a relatively 'simple' operation is vast!...there is always a reason!

This brief but dynamic video clip rekindles an expression I have used many times when carrying out Incident Investigations..."nobody planned or wanted to get hurt in work today" so, irrespective of where this incident occurred, the message remains the same...follow all safe procedures at all times and avoid complacency no matter how many times you may have done the same task before.
